Being a strong proponent of sustainability, Jindal Aluminium Ltd is a pioneer in the renewable energy sector. We are the first company to set up both wind power (1997) as well as solar power plants in Karnataka (2013).
With a clear vision to be self-sufficient, what started as a humble beginning, has not only made us 100% self-sufficient for our energy needs, but has led us to supply almost 50 MW of surplus energy to grid annually.
We became the first Private IPP company in Karnataka to install wind energy, with a capacity of 4.14 MW in Chitradurga in October 1997. We recognized that harnessing non-conventional renewable energy sources will go a long way in reducing power shortages in our country. Over time we have undertaken significant capacity expansions that have brought us to our current level – 25.6 MW wind energy at Chitradurga  District in Karnataka and another 25.2 MW wind energy at Anantapur District in Andhra Pradesh.
Our first 10 MW solar power project was set up in Chitradurga District in Karnataka. Subsequently we grew our capacities in solar energy by establishing a 20 MW Solar Power Project in Davangere District in Karnataka, taking our total capacity to 30 MW of solar power energy generation.
